The Winter Black Truffle (scientific name, Tuber Melanosporum Vittadini) has a rather smooth and round appearance with polygonal verrucae.
The flesh, or gleba, is pale and its fragrance pungent, aromatic and fruity.
It grows in hilly and mountainous areas in symbiosis with hazelnut trees, durmast oaks and English oaks.
